Loved: Garth mention! Second this season!

Mick's suffering look when he apologized to the innocent girl before he painfully murdered her.

Hated: No mention of Cas, which I'm usually fine with, but not in a Claire episode. (WTF?)

"It's better to die human than become a monster." In the same episode that used Garth as a positive example. Huh?

Sam and Dean didn't even consider turning Mick in! They could have easily told Hayden's mother that her daughter was injected with silver nitrate by a psycho.

'Can't get over the fact that if he hooked up with Dean, their couple name could be Dick' - or Mean!!

I really liked this episode, although I hated Mick killing Hayden and think he got off way too lightly. And I thought it was weird that neither Cas nor Jody were involved.

I loved Dean and Sam's reaction to the 3* hotel, and the way Dean did his very best to appear unimpressed!

I really hope Claire is whisked off to BMoL Hogwarts and never seen again!

Oh I have thoughts on this episode...

    Stuff I liked:
  • Claire faking being from Fish & Game and the slur on how young she was is a direct reference back to Sam and Dean in S01E02 where they, only a few years older, pulled the same trick! So here they are on the other side of the fence, shaking their heads at the temerity of someone young trying to pull that off.

  • Dean seems like he is really beginning to understand that people need control over their own lives, and by people, I mean Sam. He is backing Sam's plays lately, and it really seems like he's getting it on a deeper level.

    Stuff I didn't like:
  • I'm REALLY tired of Dean being the one who gets the thanks and Sam being the one who gets slighted. Claire's antagonism to Sam really frustrated me because, hello, HE was the guy who took her aside and showed her how to fake IDs and hack into things to get information. He was the guy who supported her hunting before Dean did.

  • And that Skeezer comment in particular hurt. That was just mean.

    Claire and Dean:
  • Claire is Jo 2.0 for Dean. I think he's going to take everything a lot more personally when it comes to her, especially to her dying.

  • I mean, the hair, the attitude, the need to hunt, the ditching the family to do it...

  • And we all know how Jo ended up, so I don't think Dean could really be objective at first when she was asking to die. It's Jo all over again.

    The nephilim:
  • I think we'll get some more glimpses with Dagon and the incubator lady, but only in the episodes with Crowley.

  • I'm betting set-up for Season 13, since they found out pretty early on in the writing cycle that they'd already been renewed.

  • And I'm okay with that if it means we get more BMOL development and Mick gets more interesting.

  • I want to see what happens with Mick a lot more than I thought. Making him go on the front lines and actually learn from his experiences is really interesting.

  • (And I kind of wish they'd let us see that character development for Mary.)

  • (Or at least write her into the storyline a bit more. I actually love that she wasn't the idealized mom of their imaginations, but a flawed, three-dimensional person, but I wish she'd get more on-screen time.)

  • But back to Mick, I ALSO think what's interesting here is that he is a threat Dean didn't expect - the possibility that Sam might be a hunter but go off into a field that doesn't include Dean. Sam hunting but NOT hunting with Dean, I think, would actually really upset Dean. So here's Ketch, trying to emphasize how different he and Dean are from the eggheads, and meanwhile there's Mick and Sam getting along like gangbusters in a way that Dean clearly feels left out of.

  • Which also makes me really sad, because the Dean of S01E01, who was so proud of building his own EMF device, clearly has the potential to be just as smart and scientifically clever, but he will never see that in himself, and instead constantly seems to make fun of Sam's geekiness as a way of deflecting from that.

  • But I can't entirely trust Mick because of him agreeing when Ms Psycho Bevell was insisting she have the right to kill the Winchesters back at the beginning and I wonder if that's where the split is ultimately going to come within the BMOL and I would like that - over whether or not to let the Winchesters live, with Mick turning sides against Toni and siding with the Winchesters.

  • But if that happens, they'll probably kill off Mick, which would make me sad.

Sorry I'm way too talkative, but I forgot what I think the moral of the episode was:

"Hey look you fucking BMOL, that werewolf said he was living a peaceful vegetarian existence until you slaughtered his whole pack. Here's another example of how you are starting an all-out war on hunters BY the supernatural by coming in and fucking up the natural order of things."

I'm actually going to defend the skeezers term. I'm coming at it from the POV of a parent. At the time, Sam wasn't in his FBI garb. If suddenly a man in his mid thirties started talking to my 16-17 year old daughter, asking about her friends, where she was last night, about her and her friends drinking habits, I'd be worried. The fact is that Sam and Dean are 12 years older than when they started and it gets harder and harder for them to interview teen witnesses unless they are playing the FBI card. Kids are more aware of older men being friendly with teen aged women, so yeah, in this case, Claire going in as a contemporary of the kids makes sense.

But you know her brothers will call her Odie.

I thought Dean saying Claire didn't get a vote was totally in character.

I'm pretty tired of teen characters in general and Claire in particular. She's thoroughly obnoxious. I'm still trying to figure out why Sam and Dean like her so much. I get that they felt sorry for her at first, but her complete lack of gratitude or empathy has to wear through their good will at some point. The whole "troubled teen" trope is becoming boring. I hope we've seen the last of her this season, but I fear not.

Missy Bender, omg, hahahahaha, that would be awesome!

I can't believe you didn't ask for the return of Teen!Sam.

Does Sam's painful insistence on doing the right thing make him unlikeable (sp?)? Is he too good for this world and thus unable to connect to other people? In earlier seasons the brothers made connections equally, I think. Sam got plenty of girls and Dean got all the kids. Was Krissy Chambers the start of this whole Sam helps and Dean gets the credit thing? What is going on in the writers' room that they don't see this pattern or care about it?

I was under the impression that the floor of the BMoL Container Heaven was concrete but I'm not sure that explains the bloodstain thing.

Am I the only person on the Internet who didn't know until today which Ackles twin was the boy and which was the girl?

As an overall observation on the season, the refrain of "You're a killer, Dean Winchester" is just not making any sense to me, and this episode supports that in fact, he is not the indiscriminate killer he once was as a young hunter, under MoC influence, or as a demon. But Dabb clearly wants to go somewhere with that.

I wish Claire had died in this episode. Why does the series need to keep her? Aside from the fact that she sucks as a hunter and is a really uninteresting character, think of the dramatic possibilities of the guys losing someone that mattered to them, LIKE USED TO HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. Think of where they could have gone with Jody. I also wish Cas had died from the Ramiel/Michael lance. These Hail Marys are totally cheapening the show. And Cas gave his big goodbye speech, and then didn't go! It's like when you're leaving a job and you've had your farewell lunch and you've gone around and said your goodbyes but then you keep seeing everyone at the office for another hour. Awkward!

Dean in cutoffs ... yum!

(I'm fine, just don't get on LJ as often because it takes forever to load on my mobile devices.)

> Something Wicked This Way Comes

NO! A thousand million NOs!!! You've committed my cardinal sin and I'm so disappointed in you I'm doing disappointed Sam face. The title of SPN 1.18 was "Something Wicked".

Make the common error of Caling it "Something Wicked This Way Comes" and you rob it of several layers of allusive meaning.

But, I forgive you because

> Dick

BEST QUESTION EVAH! I giggled for a full minute. Hell, I'm still giggling :D
