I enjoyed watching Jensen, mostly to see him do not!Dean, but yeah, I think he needs to settle into the character yet. He just seemed dead-eyed to me, not coldly calculating or threatening. Demon!Dean was more ominous, and that ain't saying much. I suspect he'll improve.
