The pretty Sheriff was a character on Battlestar Galactica and I would have liked this episode just for getting her face back on my TV.
I liked this episode a lot, as a one-off. The teaser of a MOTW episode actually caused me feelings! Good writing for the guest stars, and even for the minor characters, implausibly aged blond lady and the Sheriff.
I'm at a loss as to how it's supposed to fit into the greater foreshadowy scheme though. Retirement? Dead older brother? We've been over this territory and back again, and I would be on the edge of my seat over it were the show ending with this season, but it's not. Or maybe season 12 will be the season of houseboat curtain fic.
Eileen has to come back at some point and I'm already impatient for it. You'd think, as she's the only other Man/Woman/Person of Letters the Winchesters know, they might consider calling her in for help on their between-episodes research binges.
