I mean, I can't believe it, but they made me like Metatron. IS THIS REAL LIFE? Because up to this point, the only times I liked seeing Metratron were when Sam was shooting him and taking his grace, and when Cas was punching him. Repeatedly. Yet... he's the hero here, with a really great speech, and I can't hate him anymore, Chuckdammit.

I know, right?

The plague made the whole Darkness/Cas thing they've been getting at make more sense to me, at least. Cas gives up and lets Lucifer in because he's been infected by the Darkness from his fight with Amara. He's acting just like all the infected townsfolk, all of his worst fears and negativity hitting and crippling him.

Oh, wow, I never would have thought of that. Interesting point!!!

And oh, Sam's Darkness-induced fears about Dean abandoning him for Amara... and Sam trying to save people even if it kills him... Dean dragging him out of harm's way... and Dean's absolute giving up when Sam is dying... fuck re-duct-taping the door and saving other people, what's the point? I'mma just gonna breathe in the smoke and die with him.

All of this!

Personally, I'm pretty happy with the idea of Sam having had the amulet all this time.

My only issue with Sam holding onto the amulet is, what happened to it when he was in Hell? Did Dean hang onto all of Sam's clothes and duffles, and it was stashed in a pocket? Did he stick it in the Impala somewhere when Dean wasn't looking?

And OH MY GOD Chuck, Sam looked so idealistic and innocent this whole episode, and so abso-fucking-lutely pretty. Sometimes he seemed almost childlike with his wide eyes, just trying to help everyone.

OH YES.
