I wasn't a fan of the last few episodes, and I normally find finales a bit of a let-down, so I was really pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this. Having the big boss fight take place in the penultimate episode and the actual resolution come about much more gently was a nice change of pace. And nobody died! I loved how Dean's story came full circle from First Born here, and Sam clinging so desperately to his optimism... in fact, I pretty much loved everyone in this episode. (Well, Chuck's still a dick, but he was too busy wilting to annoy me much.) I've always liked the idea of Amara as something more neutral than evil, so I appreciated that she actually didn't end up as the Biggest Ever Bad who Must Be Destroyed. I think I'll actually miss her -- but I also appreciated that they've taken all the God-level players off the board for now. I expect we'll see them again when the show ends, but until then, I'm fine with lowering the cosmic stakes a little.
