It's stormy here today, so even if it's not actually autumn/winter weather yet, nor as cold as either Connecticut OR an unusually cold Tennessee, I spent the afternoon curled up in bed with this anyway, and it was a most glorious experience. <333 Both Sam and Dean's POVs play back and forth against each other so splendidly in this fic--what I think they make most clear together is not only their very different fears, anxieties, and frustrations at this point in canon (and the divides are expansive), but also how much attuned they are to one another, in spite of that. I loved all those little tiny moments in this where you'd get part of the day from one Winchester, and then in the next chapter you'd see that the other knew exactly what the other was doing, how they were feeling, how they were planning out their conversations with the other. I feel like that's a terrible explanation, but I thought that was awesome.
And I love how well this case came together, details slowly coalesced. I always feel like it's extremely difficult to make a case appropriately mysterious, but also follow through on a resolution that makes sense and isn't either a letdown or just outright confusing. You nailed this. The scene where Sam is trying to snap Dean out of it by having him focus on the blood, having Dean kill him as slowly as possible (omggggg) is absolutely pitch-perfect, and so dramatically visual. MMMM, YESSSS. Especially since I've noticed in canon that regardless of how many times Sam tries, snapping Dean out of this or that curse/spell almost never works. Like. Ever. Sam still has faith, though! But anyway, it's gotta take something really special, and this is definitely that.
This fic is such a treat, bb. I'm so glad that we have you here sharing your work with us. It is such a privilege! <33333
