I thought the backstory on the ghouls was that they're scavengers by rule, but the ones in JtS were out for revenge on John and so were going to slowly eat his sons?

I kinda liked AU!Bobby being mean to Sam because it's the first time this season we've seen much difference drawn between AU!Bobby and our Bobby. Our Bobby would've been surly, sure, and he might have called out Sam for letting Maggie hunt solo, but he wouldn't have been so cold about it. It's a relief to see that the writers realize that they can't just slot AU!Bobby into the same emotional place in Sam and Dean's lives. I liked that AU!Bobby got the crucified son backstory for the same reason.

I don't have a problem with Maggie not being a badass, but I don't want her main character trait and role to be not-a-badass when she's stuck around for several episodes already.

I guess Jack is still on a hunting trip with Cas? And still successfully hiding all his bloody tissues? And nobody's worried about them even though they haven't been home in a few days?

I think if the djinn had seen Hell or MoC stuff we'd have seen some flashes of chains or meat hooks or hammers and gotten some screechy audio to indicate that. I don't think the show would be so subtle as to leave it up to our imaginations unless it was setting up the plot.

If a djinn has a brain then turning the brain to pulp should render it non-operational even if it's not technically dead in the metaphysical sense. Maybe its soul just can't cross over to Purgatory. Maybe monsters whose bodies are destroyed by woodchipper or grenade launcher or something other than the way they're supposed to go get trapped on the wrong side of the Veil forever...

Mary telling Sam he was "born to do this" reminded me of the YED telling Sam he was born to lead a demon army which made me happy. I don't think Sam was that happy though.

Other questions:

Is Nick still running around murdering people with hammers? That seemed like the kind of situation that was going to escalate quickly. Also, I remember suggesting in reply to one of your previous polls that we could have Michael!Dean and a hammer and since both those things technically came true I feel like I kind of Monkey Paw'd the Nick subplot into existence.

What's Ketch up to now? The writers seemed hell bent on keeping him around last season, so I assume he's coming back. Did anyone bother to tell him Dean's (fingers crossed) not possessed anymore?
