My top five or top ten fluctuate a bit, but I never tire of watching 'What Is...' because of Jensen's performance and the great storyline. The other two that I can watch repeatedly are 'Regarding Dean' and 'Baby'.
'Dean bashing the djinn's head in' was something that spoiled the episode for me, as although I love badass Dean and the djinn deserved it, it went against the lore and was pretty nasty.
But I loved Donna hiding her cabin key under a garden gnome! I also loved Sam and Dean being so supportive of each other.
I also want to know what Rowena and Charlie are up to, and what is wrong with Jack - he was coughing up blood the last time we saw him!
I have to defend the weird angled hall that Sam walked down. I buy and resell and do estate sales for a living so I go through a lot of houses and a lot of dead people's stuff ever year. I've seen some really weird house designs, especially in older homes before building codes were a thing really.
The houses like that are my favorite because you just wonder how drunk the builders were at the time of construction. Heck I almost died a month ago because someone felt the proper spot for the basement stairs was 3ft from the kitchen stove in this one house. It's a wonderful feeling of stepping back and finding nothing but air..
I thought the backstory on the ghouls was that they're scavengers by rule, but the ones in JtS were out for revenge on John and so were going to slowly eat his sons?
I kinda liked AU!Bobby being mean to Sam because it's the first time this season we've seen much difference drawn between AU!Bobby and our Bobby. Our Bobby would've been surly, sure, and he might have called out Sam for letting Maggie hunt solo, but he wouldn't have been so cold about it. It's a relief to see that the writers realize that they can't just slot AU!Bobby into the same emotional place in Sam and Dean's lives. I liked that AU!Bobby got the crucified son backstory for the same reason.
I don't have a problem with Maggie not being a badass, but I don't want her main character trait and role to be not-a-badass when she's stuck around for several episodes already.
I guess Jack is still on a hunting trip with Cas? And still successfully hiding all his bloody tissues? And nobody's worried about them even though they haven't been home in a few days?
I think if the djinn had seen Hell or MoC stuff we'd have seen some flashes of chains or meat hooks or hammers and gotten some screechy audio to indicate that. I don't think the show would be so subtle as to leave it up to our imaginations unless it was setting up the plot.
If a djinn has a brain then turning the brain to pulp should render it non-operational even if it's not technically dead in the metaphysical sense. Maybe its soul just can't cross over to Purgatory. Maybe monsters whose bodies are destroyed by woodchipper or grenade launcher or something other than the way they're supposed to go get trapped on the wrong side of the Veil forever...
Mary telling Sam he was "born to do this" reminded me of the YED telling Sam he was born to lead a demon army which made me happy. I don't think Sam was that happy though.
Other questions:
Is Nick still running around murdering people with hammers? That seemed like the kind of situation that was going to escalate quickly. Also, I remember suggesting in reply to one of your previous polls that we could have Michael!Dean and a hammer and since both those things technically came true I feel like I kind of Monkey Paw'd the Nick subplot into existence.
What's Ketch up to now? The writers seemed hell bent on keeping him around last season, so I assume he's coming back. Did anyone bother to tell him Dean's (fingers crossed) not possessed anymore?
When are the AUpeople going home? And did they *all* become hunters?
This part makes the least sense. Sure, AU Land had monsters, but it seems like most of these people were survivors, not hunters. Why throw them into the life now?
(I accidentally ticked the top box without reading it properly - I initially thought it was a 'I'm saying Hi thing', but clearly didn't read it properly!!! I didn't mean it. I promise.)
Yay poll!!! Bobby was very surly here, but Mary told us he was going through something and since they spelled out that our world Bobby didn't have kids, I kind of assumed in AU world that he did. So I spent most of the episode knowing something was up with him and that he didn't really mean to be than cruel to Sam (although he did have a point. I still don't know why any of them would be hunting alone!)
I was on the fence about Michael, I'm no more convinced that he's in hiding somewhere in Dean, and maybe that's why Dean was able to kill him in the way that he did.
I don't mind the Peaky Blinders hat. I love Peaky Blinders. You should watch it. It might change your mind about the hat (or it might not!)
I have THINGS TO SAY about FakeBobby. A) That hat, for pete's sake. 2) I can't like him no matter how much I try.
He can go on and shack up with Mary because I don't like her behind either.
Also and also - this stuff with Sam was ridiculous. That is some nerve to lecture Sam Winchester. He does not know Sam. And why the heck does Sam look all nervous to talk to him at the end of the episode? THIS IS NOT BOBBY, IT IS FAKE BOBBY, AND FAKE BOBBY AIN'T SQUAT TO SAM. Sam doesn't need to give a hoot what FakeBobby thinks on account of he is FakeBobby and they don't.even.know.each.other.
And also and also, look who needs to "watch their tone" now. Yes, it's FakeBobby. Have some respect.
(Maybe you can tell that I normally use a fair amount of profanity and was restraining my language?)

What I loved was: No angels, no demons, sort of MOTW epi. Sam'n'Dean are supportive of one another!
Don't like AU!Bobby. Don't like this characteristics of Mary.
When are the AUpeople going home? And did they *all* become hunters?
But I did like the episode!
