Episode reaction: Walker 1.10 and 1.11

We're up to episodes 10 and 11. Keep in mind that I skip through a lot of teenage drama and shit.

• Episode 10 - I absolutely adore geeky fanboy Cordell, especially when he picks up the guitar, but this storyline is just, oh, stupid and full of holes. Stella broke into prison??? DON'T KISS THAT GIRL SHE MURDERED YOUR WIFE. Next!



• Teenagers cannot work in bars. Not even in Texas. (Can they? I guess I should look this up.)



• Oooh, this looks like it's gonna be a public proposal, and I can't stand those so I'm gonna skip so hard and so fast
.


• Stella, you are so not prepared to run away.



• "Hey, I'm a Ranger and I need to look in this safe deposit box." THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS.



• Wait. Walker went undercover in AUSTIN? Where he lives? That can't be right. Is it?



• Gramma Walker has this huge ass diamond ring that she (1) didn't give back to the fiancé she dumped and (b) didn't give to her own son when he got engaged.



• I still don't trust Geri and I don't want her to end up with Cordell.



• Yeah, let's go to this hideout where my dad used to take me! He'll never think to look for me there! When he's hiding out!



• Boy, this abandoned cabin sure is in good shape. It's been dusted more recently than my own house.



• Oh, wait, you guys never checked Bad Dad's visitor's log? Never?



• "Stellaaaaaaaaa!!!!" I'M SORRY IT'S FUNNY.



• kazluvsbooks, where are my GIFs of Walker getting shot (BY HIS DAUGHTER) and still being a badass? Because I believe I was promised some GIFs. {taps foot impatiently.}



• Walker driving the convertible with his bloody shirt and his messy hair HE IS ADORABLE I LOVE HIM.



• You should matter more, Hoyt, but you don't. Damn, Geri, that's cold. (But can you blame her? I mean, she kissed Jared Padalecki. There's no going back.)



• (Okay, I looked it up. Teenagers can work in liquor stores owned by their parents, but not in bars, even if they own them.)



• TBI Boyfriend didn't drive his car home, but that means he drove his car THERE, right?


Okay, this was all unnecessarily snarky. There were some good moments. All of them wearing Jared Padalecki's face. (And unreasonably long legs and snug white t-shirt. I am only human.)

Well, I don’t skip ALL of the non-Walker content, since it’s not quite as bad as an episode of Supernatural where Cas has his own subplot. I’d say I spent about 30 minutes watching this one.

I am strangely unironically enjoying Walker, but I am constantly wut? about every aspect of the plot. And nothing has ever again achieved quite the height of the episode where Walker gave himself stigmata. I guess after all those years of Sam it's hard to move on from the Symbolic Hand Wounds.

I thought I'd save your post until I'd watched 11, which I now have. I'm hoping you'll carry on recapping/reaction posts, it will make watching more fun because at the moment, I'm just in it for Jared's sake, not even for Cordell who I find weirdly twitchy and unconvincing. And the family drama is tedious. These last two were somehow better than the previous two, for some reason. I haven't yet forgiven everyone for bigging up the tornado episode. I was really excited at the thought of getting a real disaster movie in miniature and all I got was some people doing the most stupid things and some very poor special effects.
