I talked about this on Tumblr when the Entertainment Weekly cover contest was announced. I have a subscription to EW - I cashed in some airline points that I'm never going to use to fly - and it's bothered me that they ignore our show. A couple of times, a quote has shown up, but when it comes to season premieres and finales, Supernatural never makes their "must watch" list. And when I found out the winner of this contest was going to be on the cover, I wanted that so bad. I wanted to force EW to respect our little show, dammit. And boy did we. (According to the article, "you voted - again, and again, and again.")





So I opened my mailbox today and didn't look at the pile until I got in the car and then I saw these two gorgeous assholes posing like a couple of fucking Vargas girls spread out on that gorgeous car and I literally laughed with glee.


Seriously, look at this magnificent bastard with the face and the hair and the smile and the arm and the legs and HOW DO YOU EVEN EXIST, JARED PADALECKI?

But I have a problem. I can't read the story. I'm afraid of spoilers. I told The Kid that I needed her to read it for me and let me know if there were spoilers, and she was all, how would I know if they're spoilers? And I said, if it says "so in season 12 we're going to..." then it's a spoiler. But she won't do it. She's afraid of messing it up. Maybe one of my friends on the internet will do it for me?


Luckily I can still look at the pretty pictures. Sorry my pictures of the pictures are not so good.

Or I can just hold onto the magazine until May. I've done it before. You remember that special they had right before the premiere of S10? You know when I watched that? Friday. As in Friday, September 2, 2016. And that wasn't exactly on purpose. I was avoiding it because of spoilers but I didn't mean to avoid it for 2 years. I just never got around to watching it, but Friday night I had the house to myself and I was weeding my recordings because my DVR free space is below 20% (partly because I'm hoarding 2 seasons of SPN) and I realized it was there and I watched it and guys, I just love that goddamn show. Love it.

I was surprised that Eric Kripke hated the "Wendigo" episode. He thought it didn't go anywhere, but I thought it did a great job of setting up the characters and their determination to save people even at the expense of their own lives. And now I want to watch it again.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to pet this magazine cover for a while.

(The small print to the right of Jensen says "Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Baby." I'm dead.

I've been viscerally giddy about this whole thing all day and I'M NOT EVEN SURE WHY because like, this is a magazine I never read to begin with... But IDEK I HAVE SUCH PURE JOY ABOUT THIS and I'm happy the Impala got to be in the shoot! And as promo shots go, this is a pretty snazzy one. (Usually they're too Photoshopped for me to be able to take them seriously, XD. I'M STILL LOL ABOUT SOME OF THE S8 PROMO STUFF.)

EW's lack of respect for our little show has always bothered me, too. It seems like lately, they've realized they can't afford to ignore it anymore just because it has such a huge fanbase, but even when they throw us a little bone like a quote, you can tell all their writers are like, "siiiiiigh, this'll get us some readers, but why do people like this show?" It's frustrating, because SOMEONE on the staff usually notices when something's really good, but in this case, not so much.

Well done fandom, I love it when we all pull together and good things happen!!! I love this so much; the poses, the clothes (Jared needs to wear that colour more), the moose and squirrel, Baby - just all of it, ALL OF IT!!!!

(I can't help but wonder if someone from our fandom snuck into EW offices and 'spruced' the proof up or something! That little moose and squirrel, and the Baby reference - it feels almost too good to be true!!!)

I read the online article and there wasn't anything spoilery in there, and I usually try and avoid them. But obviously I don't know what's in the magazine version. One of my US friends is buying it for me because - Boys and Baby! So damned cool. And the vids are all pretty much spoiler free too so I'd say they are safe to watch.
