Episode Poll 12.10: "Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets"

Sorry the 12.10 poll is so late; I hope you haven't forgotten the episode!

[Poll #2062589]

Remember, no spoilers in the comments please

So, a couple of comments. It was a well-written episode and thoughtful about the ways it tried to at least remember some aspects of canon even as it forgot others. I loved the way Cas had agency and agenda all his own instead of just, you know, playing support staff for the Winchesters. But if Cas didn't play support staff it felt as if Sam did in his place.

Lily Sunder has some regrets. She used to have more, nightmares even, but she's lost some of her soul and as a result, some of her regrets so she doesn't have all of them anymore.

Yes, it did. Other than his brief speech about being soulless, Sam's role in this episode could have been done by any character.

Aw. {sniff}

I love Lily so much!

And I can't get over Benjamin. He didn't like hanging around on earth, but the faith (and love?) of his vessel changed him (and made him more powerful?) It reminds me of some fanfictions I have read. There has to be a reason Chuck made it so that humans had to consent to being possessed by angels.

I'm very sure this will come up again later. Only question is, who will be possessed? Cas isn't leaving his vessel any time soon...

"We've already had Hitler and the Devil, so the only thing left is Donald Trump."

The Winchesters could take out the wrinkled orange scrotum with one hand tied behind their backs. Unfortunately he'd have a whole army of agents protecting him, so they might need Ninja-warrior Mr Ketch to help.

Considering that the Supernatural-universe POTUS's security detail can't even secure a two-room cabin, I have a feeling that Sam and Dean would have no trouble getting to Supernatural-universe Donald Trump. I am not at all impressed with how SPN has chosen to portray the Secret Service.

That's very true, I am sure that scenario at the cabin would never happen!

Exactly.

Angels seem to keep their vessels when they go to Heaven -- no idea how that works, but considering Cas told Jimmy he was planning on keeping him for a very long time, it seems like they stash the vessels somewhere (on earth or in heaven?) while they're off being waves of celestial intent. Don't know how Cas lost his old vessel though.

I'd like to think that Cas released his female vessel when he no longer had any need of her, allowing her to return to her old life. If Cas didn't need to frequently return to Earth in the present day, he probably would have released Jimmy Novak's body by now, too.

It beats me what happens to the vessels when the angels are up in heaven being waves of celestial intent, but I've read fanfic I like that answers that question, since I doubt the show will ever tell us.

The vessel stuff makes my head hurt.

As always, a great poll. I'd like Mary to continue to be on the show, as long as she cuts off the damn annoying long hair bit.

As for who's the Big Bad and what the cosmic consequences are, I truly don't give a shit. I just want the BMoL to go away.

Same. They seem ridiculously flaky.

I wish the Winchesters and Cas would stop calling the BMoL at every opportunity, especially since Mary, Sam and Dean know about this huge community of hunters only a few hours away in Canada that they could call for help, instead. Or they could call Jodie and Donna for help. I doubt Cas knows about Jodie, Donna or the Canada hunters, so he's excused from not contacting them, but the Winchesters are not. TFW has developed an irritating habit in the last 4-5 years of calling the least desirable person for backup (i. e. Crowley and Rowena, two people who have screwed them over as often as they've helped them, as well as the BMoL) as soon as things get tough, and it is maddening.
