The poll so far: The front half of season 15

Well, friends, it's a new year. Is getting back to the episode polls one of my resolutions? Perhaps. Is it doomed to fail? Likely. But how about a poll on the front half of season 15?

[Poll #2098024]

Remember, no spoilers in the comments, please!

Your polls are always the best of the best!!

I keep getting tripped up by the lack of continuity. The whole "you've been to hell so you can't go to heaven" is such BULLSHIT. John came out of hell and went to heaven! It's such an arbitrary rule, made up to ratchet up the stakes. I like Sam and Eileen but I worry they're going to stick to the fuck-Sam-and-die canon.

There's some things I've enjoyed about this season but more that I haven't. I really hate God being the Big Bad. It was so powerful in earlier seasons when God wasn't there and didn't care. Now I feel boned, like all of the apocalypse plot was robbed of its meaning. Seriously, screw Chuck.

This one doesn't bother me. Back in Dark Side of the Moon, Joshua flat out said he didn't understand why God kept letting Sam and Dean into Heaven when they died, although it was pretty obvious he really meant Sam. So it was hinted that God was making those calls and really the only ones who went to Heaven after being in Hell were John (special dispensation meant to reward Sam and Dean and give them a reason to keep fighting) and Bobby, who was kidnapped and deliberately sent to the wrong place and was allowed in before the fall of the angels depleted first locked up Heaven and then depleted the ranks of angels keeping it going. By now, there is barely enough angel power to keep those who belong in Heaven there, let alone work to make exceptions to the already established rules. It is a retcon, but it's not an egregious retcon, unlike say Reapers are angels or Reapers can only be killed by a special ritual using the proper scythe, oops, now than can be killed by angel blades or Rowena on a mission, for example.

There basically IS no reaper canon. It's all been rewritten multiple times!

{smooches!}

To be fair, they did explain that by telling us Chuck made it possible for a few souls to go from Hell to Heaven just because he liked the Winchesters. It may not be a great explanation, but they didn't completely ignore canon.

Except for the episode where they said God could not affect whether a soul went to heaven or hell, it was completely determined by a person's choices . . .

Chuck’s a writer! Writers lie! See, everything is covered! ;-)
