Happy new year!

It's hard to believe 2014 was my first full calendar year in the SPN fandom. You've all made it a ridiculously fun experience.

Thanks to all of you who have participated in my sometimes ridiculous polls, and read/commented on my fic and reviews. And thanks for sharing your own reviews and fic and art and meta and everything. Being able to talk, and laugh, and complain, and speculate, and fangirl with you guys... I can't adequately explain what it means to me.

I don't make resolutions, but I do have some things I hope to accomplish in 2015.

1. Continue to have a poll for each episode of S10.
2. Continue to write a drabble for each episode of S10.
3. Fill out a row on my SPNspiration bingo card.
4. Finish the sequel to my version of what happened after 9.23 before it, too, is completely Kripke'd.
5. Participate in another Big Bang.
6. Maybe participate in Summergen? I don't know. This one scares me.

Anyway. I've got work to do. Happy new year, y'all!

I'm so happy I got to add you to my circle of fandom friends this year! Why are you scared of Summergen? I've had a good experience the two years I've done it. You should definitely give it a try!

I've been so happy to befriend you too! I loved working with you on my Big Bang. <3

I'm afraid of Summergen partially because I don't know if I can come up with something for another person's prompt, and partly because so many contributors there are SO DAMN GOOD and I'm intimidated!

Writing to a prompt can be hard--I struggled a bit with what I got both years. But it led me to write stories I wouldn't have otherwise, so for me the struggle itself was useful. Maybe you could try Spring Fling first and see how it feels? I find it less stressful because the maximum is 2500 words, and the prompts are limited to a single word or phrase, so they can be interpreted very broadly.

ETA, because I just realized I didn't actually say it: Dude, your writing is great, and challenges are a good way for more people to see it.

Aw, you're too kind.

I don't know anything about the spring fling (or if I did, I've forgotten). Do you have a link?

Sure: http://spnspringfling.livejournal.com/ I think it's my favorite challenge of the year. It allows pairings, but there are enough people who ask for gen that it shouldn't be a problem to match you if you didn't want to write slash/het.

Happy 2015! *hugs*

Out of completely unaltruistic reasons, I'm all for one and two on your list! Yay for polls and drabbles - they're always awesome.

Also, I can only encourage you to participate in Summergen. It was so much fun for me. (A bit scary too, undoubtedly, but more fun than scary.) .)

Thanks buddy! I am equally glad, for my own not exactly altruistic reasons, that your interests have shifted from Sherlock to Supernatural. :-)

Happy new year to you and thank you for all your fics and fun polls!

Last year was the first year I took part in both [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen and [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling and both were very positive experiences that I'm hoping to do again this year. Springfling might be a good place to start as the prompts are one worded and open to interpretation, the word count is limited to 2500, but the deadline is short (a week I think?) You should check it out and give it a go (if you have any queries that I might be able to help you with please feel free to PM me.)

Thank you! Spring fling does look interesting but most of it is slash... are people even interested in gen?

From memory there were quite a few gen entries last year. When you sign up you list three pairings and you can state if you want gen and/or what rating (for example last year I chose Sam and Dean, gen. AU Jared/Jensen or gen, but not NC-17. Sam and Jess or Sam/Jess, but not NC-17). You also get to list things that you 'can do' and things that you 'cannot do'. So if you want gen only, you can ask to receive that and write for that, and you will be matched accordingly.

Last year I was lucky and got a match on three of my pairings, so I could chose which one to write. You will always get at least one pairings match when your assignment is issued.

Another great thing about this challenge is that the fics are initially posted anonymously, so any one could be writing anything! This creates a lot of excitement and guess work. The authors are them revealed at a later date.

I really enjoyed the challenge last year. I ended up writing a pairing I'd never written for before and also a new trope. I hope this helps.

Happy New Year! Those sound like good resolutions and you need to do summergen - it's a fabulous challenge and lots of fun. :)

Happy new year! Great resolutions, good luck with a BB!
I'm with [livejournal.com profile] sw0rdy, Summergen is awesome. it can get a little scary but it really is a great way to meet new friends and challenge yourself.
