It’s Supernatural Day, the anniversary of the day the pilot first aired. And I have been watching Psych for a week rather than beginning my Supernatural rewatch, which I should feel guilty about. However, Supernatural has wormed its way into my viewing anyway, as it always does. Every episode has someone from Supernatural in it, because one of the Psych costars is Tim Omundson, who played Cain. However, since it was also filmed in Vancouver, every episode has also had someone else from Supernatural, ranging from Alex Calvert to That Guy Who Played A Hunter Who Forced Sam To Drink Demon Blood. Today I watched 1.06, which was the first episode that (as far as I can tell) didn't have a second Supernatural actor. But it did have (1) the guy who played Kripke on Big Bang Theory, and (b) a re-enactment of a Civil War battle that took place in Lawrence, Kansas. So I think it still counts.

Because I started writing Wincest in the shower this morning.

I’ve never really been into it. At first I avoided it, and then I’d read it if the rest of the story was really good. And that’s where I am now. I don’t seek it out, but I don’t walk away from a good fic just because of Wincest.

And now this plot bunny has burrowed into my brain and it won’t leave. So I guess I write Wincest now.

Don’t worry, it’s not explicit. It’s not about the sex. Because I’m writing it, so obviously it’s about the postcoital angst.

(Why does my phone autocorrect for Wincest and Winchestery but not postcoital?)

(Like I don’t know why...)

A FOREHEAD TOUCH. I WANT A FOREHEAD TOUCH. SAM AND DEAN TOUCHING FOREHEADS.

Here we go

Oh, my friends. Here we are. Six years and two days ago I sat down to watch 9.01, "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here." It was the first time I'd ever watched the season opener live. And tonight I'm doing it for the last time.

(No, I'm not okay; thanks for asking.)

So, here's the deal. Every once in a while, I say I want something to happen on Show, and it happens. (Example: In 2016 I posted, in my usual completely unspoiled way, that I wanted Bobby back - not dead Bobby, not ghost Bobby, not angel Bobby, not figment-of-Sam's-imagination Bobby, I just wanted real live Bobby. And three days later, we got Safe House.) Will this happen again? Probably not. Am I going to post a list of things I want anyway, just in case? You know it.

When I came back to my office after lunch, my keychain-size Funko Pops looked like this.

I’m sure it doesn’t mean anything. Except I keep standing Dean up and he keeps falling back down.

I will, at some point, have more to say about the announcement last week that s15 will be the last season of Supernatural. But today I want to talk about what The Husband said, which is that for the last season, each episode should be a homage to the series finale of a classic TV show. And I kinda love that idea. I mean, imagine all the surviving characters in a hug like the end of the Mary Tyler Moore show.

Or, you know, less awesome scenes:

The Husband: They could do one where they go water skiing and jump over a shark. I mean, that wasn't the end of Happy Days, but it was *the end* of Happy Days.

Me: They actually had an episode called "Jump the Shark" where they found out they had a younger half brother. They met him at a restaurant called Cousin Oliver's.*

The Husband: They really are good, aren't they?

And now I'm thinking about what ending they could borrow for the very last episode.

Everyone I've ever done business with is emailing me about Pi Day today, but as usual, my friends at the Hot Topical are the only ones who really get it. And boy, do they get it.

Look at that pie bag!

Happy pi day, or pie day, whichever you choose to celebrate, and happy new episode day too!

I know we don't get a new episode tonight (or even an old one, apparently) but it's Thursday and I'm wearing plaid and the last song I heard on the radio on my way to work was "Heat of the Moment" and then when I got here my email had a fresh crop of things Pinterest thinks I'd be interested in and oh, Pinterest, you know me SO WELL because they were all WINCHESTERS, and friends, I AM IN A MOOD. How much time will I spend actually working today, and how much will I spend reading fanfic? WHO KNOWS. BUT IT'S NOT GONNA BE GOOD.

(Or, depending on how you look at it, it could be very good indeed.)

Borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] cuddyclothes. For 7 days, post a picture of a book you like. No commentary or explanation. Will I actually keep this up for an entire week? Let’s find out!

... to give Dean Winchester a big birthday kiss tonight?

No, you are not.

I was in a meeting this morning with a woman who had PLAID EYEGLASSES. And Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) is tweeting about Jim Rockford’s car being for sale (which not only makes me daydream about getting my hands on an Impala, but let us not forget the Winchester emergency separation plan - first hotel in the book, register under Jim Rockford).

How am I supposed to think about anything that’s NOT Supernatural under these circumstances?

A few years ago I started watching Psych, which is an extravaganza of SPN guest stars, since it was filmed in Vancouver. It's amusing to me that they go to great lengths to make Vancouver look like California, whereas Supernatural is just, sure, it's cold in Florida and mountainous in Kansas, why the fuck not? Anyway. Episode 1.02 featured a kid who looked so much like young Sam Winchester, it stopped me cold. This kid could out-Jared even Colin Ford. I looked him up on IMDB but apparently I was looking at the wrong actor, because it didn't have a photo of him and he had only been in one other show. I got a screencap and started to post about him, but never got around to it.

LOOK AT HIM.

And then, Tumblr informed me that the kid was actually Alexander Calvert. And it makes me unreasonably happy. Someday I'm going to write more about Psych, about the amazing Kurt Fuller, about that one episode that's so full of SPN Easter eggs that I've probably forgotten half of them, about the parade of "that guy was on Supernatural" guest stars. But right now I'm just going to bask in the glory of young Alexander Calvert looking so much like his future foster father.

So apparently it's Supernatural Day again? Is this a thing? Is there some significance to 9/13 that I'm missing? Season 9 episode 13 is "The Purge," which has some good moments (yoga Sam, roofied Dean, more yoga Sam... mmmm... excuse me, I need a moment) but isn't exactly earthshattering. Is it a character's birthday? What's the deal with September 13?

ETA... Duh. It’s the day Supernatural first aired. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kalliel.

Anyway. In honor of the occasion, my friends at the Hot Topical, who are well aware of what I love, emailed me about their new Supernatural fashion collection. Including this awesome skirt that looks like a plaid shirt tied around your waist.

They styled it with a Led Zeppelin t-shirt! Someone over there is watching the show.

Dear lord, I adore this. I'm not going to buy it. I'm a goddamn grownup, and it's okay for my office to be full of toys, but I'm not wearing a skirt that looks like a shirt tied around your waist. (IT HAS SLEEVES.) But somebody needs to.

In other news, apparently Eric Kripke wrote the screenplay for the new movie The House With a Clock in its Walls. And apparently it's based on his favorite book as a child, and apparently that book influenced the show (I mean Show) he created years later. And apparently this movie is full of Supernatural Easter eggs.

So now I guess I have to watch it. And if this is just a clever way to trick a million people into watching your movie, I’ll be VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Anyway. Stay safe out there!

Last week I ordered my Sam and Baby Funko Pop. Delivery was scheduled for Thursday, August 2. I've checked the Hot Topic site a few times since then and he's sometimes listed as out of stock. Which makes me happy, because I want my boy to be popular.

His little worried eyebrows are even better in person.
