That is one of my biggest questions, too. Part of me wonders if it was poor editing. Maybe the script made it seem like the secret service burst into the room faster, but during the editing stage, the timing got screwed up. But that theory doesn't explain why Dean and Sam didn't just run out of the room with Castiel and what's-her-name.
If this was season 2, I'd assume that the boys intended to get arrested and have some sort of job to do in prison and have an escape plan already in place. But the writing's rarely that clever anymore.
