I know it's late, but I'm updating my master list, so I've compiled my fills for the 2015 Oh Sam Triple Play. Please visit the community and read everyone else's fills too because they are SO GOOD.

A/N: Just a quick ~2300 word AU tag for episodes 11.18 and 11.17 that I couldn't get out of my head so I had to write it down. I read somewhere that 11.18, "Hell's Angel," was originally supposed to come before 11.17, "Red Meat." For the purposes of this fic I'm pretending things did actually happen in that order.

(The title is from Let's Go Crazy by Prince. For reasons.

Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby

AO3 version

...

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Sam was still on doctor-ordered, post-werewolf bedrest. Dean had a call for help from a hunter in Tallahassee. Sam had an irrational hatred of the entire state of Florida. Amara was hunkered down somewhere off their radar, and Lucifer was under her control. There really didn't seem to be a good reason for Dean not to go help Buck out. One day down, one day to gank the monster, one day back. Even Sam insisted he'd be fine, that he wouldn't even leave the bunker.

God, it was a stupid idea.

I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Length: About 8600 words
Rating: Gen, R for language and maybe other things
Warnings: Author chooses not to warn because she considers them spoilery; read at your own risk
Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel
Spoilers: Through The Executioner's Song
Synopsis: Dean deals with the implications of Cain's prophecy. Fills the non-linearity square on my Bingo card for [livejournal.com profile] spnspiration

A/N: I started writing this after Dean killed Cain, and there was a lot we didn't know about the Mark. I decided not to post it back then because, as the charming and astute [livejournal.com profile] frozen_delight pointed out, everything I thought I knew about the Mark was wrong. ;-) And after the season finale I thought about reworking it to make it canon-compliant and decided I liked it better the way it was. So, consider this an AU. And forget everything you know about the Mark of Cain except for these things: it turns you into a demon if you're killed, it eventually turns you into a demon even if you're not killed, and it makes it difficult or impossible to kill you.

Thanks to my lovely betas [livejournal.com profile] manzanita_crow and [livejournal.com profile] frozen_delight. I messed with it after they read it, so all errors are mine. The title is from "Take Me To Church" by Hozier.

before

The thing is, Dean's been on this side of a prophecy before. He is, after all, the Righteous Man. The Michael Sword. He knows how useless it is to fight it. Sure, he can spout a lot of brave talk about Team Free Will, but he knows the truth: you try to buck destiny, and you find that instead of killing your brother, you're setting up the dominos that eventually knock him into the Pit as Lucifer's eternal meat suit, and how is that a win? One way or another, destiny has its way with you and there's not a single fucking thing you can do about it, at least in Dean's experience. So he knows what to expect here. And it takes several months, but Cain's prediction eventually comes to fruition, and Crowley is the first domino to fall.

Length: about 8000 words
Rating: R for language
Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Castiel
Spoilers: Through season 9
Synopsis: Dean's no longer a demon, but he still needs to be saved. Sequel to Where do we begin (the rubble or our sins)? You should read that one first. (You'll notice I accidentally gave Cas his wings back in that fic. Please pretend that didn't happen.) Once again, the title is from Pompeii by Bastille.

I know everyone else is watching 10.10 right now, but it wanted to post this before it's completely Kripke'd.

Title:I don't think the world is sold (I'm just doing what we're told)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] caranfindel
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] matchboximpala
Rating: R for language
Warnings: Language you can't use on the CW, show-level darkness, overuse of run-on sentences
Word Count: 11,400
Summary: After Sam jumps into the cage with Lucifer, Dean would do anything to undo it. What happens when he is given that opportunity? Written for the 2014 [livejournal.com profile] spn_gen_bigbang, and also fills the "dark" square on my bingo card for [livejournal.com profile] spnspiration

Notes: Massive thanks to two writers who are much better than me - [livejournal.com profile] indiachick, who gave some much-needed advice very early on in the writing process (Look! I'm finally posting it!), and [livejournal.com profile] balder12, my wonderful beta, who was also full of good advice, and if you don't find yourself saying "that makes no sense," thank them. Getting help on Supernatural fic from these two is like asking Jane Austen for advice on your Regency romance.

[livejournal.com profile] matchboximpala created the gorgeous graphics, which can also be found on her art masterpost, and I loved both of the styles she came up with so much that I couldn't choose, so you get both.

The title is from the song "Counting Stars" by One Republic.

The road stretches out in front of the Impala, dark and empty, and Dean thinks it's a pretty good metaphor for the rest of his life. )

As much as I loved the way Soul Survivor ended (which is a lot), with the ambiguous what-would-Sam-have-done question hanging over our heads, I keep thinking about how it would have gone if Cas had arrived three minutes later. Written in second person to fill that square on my [livejournal.com profile] spnspiration bingo card.

A/N: Unbetaed and probably full of errors (logic and otherwise) but I needed to post it before 10.03 because reasons.

Now there's a sequel:

He's here!

Now the question is, why is he rated 17+? Is he anatomically correct under that trenchcoat?

caranfindel: (Default)
First, I have some thoughts based on very vague spoilers (go ahead and click through if you want, the "spoilers" inside are spoiler-tagged and they're really not particularly spoilery, because I really do try hard to remain pure as the driven snow).

Vague thoughts... )

So, that's what I think. And this is why I try to avoid spoilers. Anyway, if you want to talk about any of this, please use the code letters. I want my comments to stay spoiler free. And if you do KNOW something, don't tell me! Don't even tell me you know I'm wrong. Or right. Though I'm probably not right. On second thought, we probably shouldn't talk about it at all. Nothing to see here. Just me freaking out. Carry on. (Aaaaaahhhhhh!)

And the second thing is, I spawned a plot bunny in my last post and I can't get past it until I write it. So here it is. I still kind of hope someone else writes it, only better.

Untitled, quickly written 9.22 fic )

I've seen posts that refer to Crowley "torturing" Gadreel/Sam in 9.10, and my question is, was that really torture?

What do you think?

Length: About 500 words
Rating: G, gen
Characters: Dean Winchester, Castiel
Spoilers: None
Summary: AU, Dean has an important job for Castiel

///
"She's beautiful, Dean."

"Yeah, she looks like her mother, lucky girl," says Dean, smiling down at the baby in his arms.

Castiel finds his statement odd. While she does have her mother's delicate nose, and tufts of her dark hair, anyone can see this baby's eyes look just like her father's. But Castiel has learned not to say everything he thinks, especially to Dean. Instead, he just says "Are you ready?"

Genre: Gen, missing scenes
Spoilers for Like a Virgin (6.12) and earlier
Characters: Dean, Sam, Castiel, Bobby
Rating: PG13 for language
Synopsis: Things that I thought needed to be said :-) My first completed fic, would love any comments, suggestions, whatever.

Dean sits in the panic room and watches Sam sleep. Sam may be an overgrown giant, but he still looks like a little kid when he's asleep. Yes, asleep. It might be more accurate to call Sam unconscious, or comatose (or, a tiny voice in the back of his mind insists, brain dead), but Dean prefers to think of it as sleeping. He doesn't even realize Bobby is in the room until the older man asks if he wants anything to eat.

"No, I'm good."

"Dean, have you eaten anything since Death left? Beer don't count," he adds, nodding at the empty bottle in Dean's hand. "You gotta take care of yourself. You can't help Sam if you're-"

"I can't help Sam anyway, in case you haven't noticed," Dean snaps. He immediately regrets it. "I'm sorry, Bobby. I'm just..." His voice trails off. Dean doesn't know what he is, other than useless. Angry, frightened, and so completely fucking useless.
