I so wish they'd let Sam talk it out probably rather than leaving the conversation at a point where lots of people are gonna go 'Sam wouldn't save his brother from dying!'. Not kidding, seen that. I think they're doing it deliberately to create arguments and publicity for the show.

And yes, Sam loves his brother AND respects him. I think Dean loves and respects Sam really, but just doesn't quite realise what some of his choices DO to Sam. Hopefully the writers are good enough to pull this off...
