Oh man, this is both quiet and deep, both simple and incomprehensible in its sadness. I really like how the parenthetical bits work not so much as interruptions or even asides, but as surges of a persistent undercurrent. And Dean signalling the appropriate number to Sam—that little moment has such an impact. </3 Lovely stuff.
