Ah-hah, thank you! I think I have seen that panel so I just forgot. Though he doesn't say anything about what the cut scenes were specifically about -- obviously scenes with Sam, and the context implies that they concerned Lucifer and/or Chuck, but the idea that it was about taking on the Mark specifically is only speculation (unless there is another source...)
