I've only seen episode one so far — it reminds me of the kind of comic stories I loved when I was a kid. Not the Marvel kind, more the Bunty/Valiant kind (not sure what the US equivalents would have been). All the stories about the underdog triumphing in spite of the evil machinations of the bad guys. I shall be watching out for the SPN refs now!
