I'm finding that there are certain things about certain writers that I just know will either make or break an episode for me. Like Jenny Klein wrote "A Rock And A Hard Place," which I found deeply offensive - but which also gave us some important Sam lines. So I won't usually skip her episodes, but I go in knowing that there's going to be some material that will get my dander up and try to manage my expectations.
I know that watching an Adam Glass episode will just make me angry. So I skip them.
By contrast, I'll watch a Robert Berens episode even if the plot is something that I care about less than I care about the statistics class I took fifteen years ago. I'll watch his episodes even if they're full of angel stuff, because he can make even angels interesting.
