Sorry this is so late, y'all. I hope you haven't forgotten everything about the episode!

Now I'm going to have to watch again to see if I can spot this supposed British accent Sam did because I totally missed that first time round, which makes me think it must have been really, really bad. Maybe as bad as Jensen's attempt at Cockney in Dark Angel. Or Mick's nasty attempts at Estuary English which is the only reason I'm pleased he's been bumped off.

I don't know how you could have missed it, unless it was so bad that a British person wouldn't even recognize it as an attempt at a British accent.

I seem to remember him doing some strange voice at one point, I admit, I didn't think it sounded British in any shape or form so if that was it... yes!

It was when Sam was talking on the phone to...a doctor, I think? The only upside to that silly accent was that even I didn't know it was Sam until they showed him speaking!

Well, after watching a certain episode of Doctor Who last night, I can assure you that Jared's British accent is no worse than Mark Sheppard's American accent. ;)

It's funny how some actors can be so good yet utterly fail at accents. I was watching something here the other day and one of the actor's US accent made me cringe. Sometimes even I can tell it's bad! I can't remember Mark's in Dr Who but I wouldn't be surprised if it was atrocious. He has quite a strong Estuary accent everywhere else I've seen him so I assume he doesn't have an ear for languages.

It was LOL I've listened again and still can't hear it as British :)

The opening scene is referencing the Red Room from Marvel (and I know this only because I've watched Agent Carter!)

The other boy had a dad who supposedly cared about him. Did he know it was a good chance his son would be killed? That's creepy. Because if he didn't, why would he send his child to a school with a really high death-rate?

And what kind of business model is it to kill students after you've invested several years of training in them?

I know, right? And the good students! I mean, if you're going to do something like that, throw the bad students into the ring.

I doubt Sam was concerned about accent accuracy, more with Kelly not recognizing it was him on the phone.

Also, I was kinda glad Renny was there, for the "No one cares" chorus, and the necessary escalation of BMol vs. Hunters. Also, the less said/thought/imagined about Mary and Ketch, the better. Ick.

Also also, I *really* want to call BMol school Brakebills rather than Hogwarts.

I'm sure that's a very clever and relevant Harry Potter reference that I'm just too ignorant to understand. But I give you credit for it. XD

No, not Harry Potter at all. The series (based on a series of books) called The Magicians, features an academy of magic called Brakebills, and the formal students of magic are pitted against self-taught (considered "feral") magicians in the show. Brakebills isn't as formal and warded as Hogwarts, nor as venerated. Things go wrong, badly, and fast, at Brakebills.

Definitely watch The Magicians it's excellent. Sera Gamble is the co-Executive Producer and she's really showing how good she can be.

Competition. First season Brakebills students and self-taught were all trying to reach a parallel world. There was cooperation, and sabotage, and competition. I haven't seen season two yet, I don't know if or how that worked out. Rick Worthy, SPN's Alpha Vamp, is the headmaster of Brakebills.

If I'm honest, my answer should be, 'Loved the Sam/Eileen, hated the rest of it'. All that time wasted on Lucifer drama when they could've been making adorable goo-goo eyes at each other... *sigh*

Maybe he taught himself a new accent when he got the nose job and the blue contacts, as part of his new identity.

I kinda think the rule about hunters killing Men of Letters is probably something they see very much like the idea of putting down a dog that's turned on its master, unfortunately. Dr. Hess even specifically said that hunters are dogs. They're supposed to be obedient and loyal. If they've killed a Man of Letters, it sounds like they see them as irredeemable.

However, Toni's assistant seemed like she was probably more of a hunter than a Woman of Letters, which would mean that it would just be considered hunter on hunter violence.

Also, Toni was acting against the wishes of her superiors. She defied orders and sent her assistant to attack them. They were forced to defend themselves. I kinda feel like it's possible that might have voided the rule about hunters killing MoL in that particular instance, too.

I loved the Sam and Eileen stuff, (AND DEAN TOTALLY SHIPS IT, TOO!) and Dean being a badass, but the whole BMOL "look at how evil we are, even though the ways in which we are evil make do freaking sense" has crossed the WTF Event Horizon. They're cartoon villains, I can't take them seriously.

It's too bad that Mick was killed off just when I was kind of liking him, but the truth is, he died like a dumbass. My friend and I were sitting on the couch, yelling at the TV for him not to be THAT stupid, but he was.

Dagon is lying is the only thing that makes any sense, but even then it only makes a little bit of sense, because Kelly thinking she's going to get out of this alive = Kelly who's not ACTIVELY looking for a way out. I mean I guess Dagon is powerful enough that she doesn't have to worry about Kelly trying to make a break for it, but still, why make trouble for herself?

(Although even if Cas had told her, it seemed pretty clear that Lucifer mind-whammied her in the hotel room, so she might have run anyway?)

Crowley being stupid and underestimating Lucifer is really frustrating; it seems like a betrayal of his whole character so far.

I don't want Eileen to be killed, but I'm worried it's going to happen, anyway. And I'm worried about all the hunters we know: Mary will have no suspicion of Ketch, and I think he might be the one to kill her (or maybe his feelings for her will stop him? Or make him hesitate just long enough for Mary to get the drop on him?) But there's also Jody, Claire, Donna (not sure if she would "count" enough to be on the BMoL's radar) Cesar and Jesse (I don't think the BMoL would care much about technicalities like "they've retired") and the witch twins. Killing some no-name hunter who we've never heard of is one thing, but if the BMoL are to be taken seriously as a threat, they'll have to off somebody the audience cares about, and who the audience knows is competent enough NOT to be taken down easily.

There's been too much buildup for the LuciFetus NOT to be born. Although like Lucifer's return in "Lucifer Rising" its birth may be the season-ending cliffhanger. (That or Sam and Dean facing their executioners.)

Cosmic consequences may get held off for next season, too. But I really hope that, whatever they are, they include rumors of Billie's death being greatly exaggerated.

The WTF Event Horizon. Hee.

If the Old Men turned out to be eldritch horrors who feed on the souls of dead monsters and run the BMoL the way they do for shits and giggles, I would applaud the plot for finally taking a sensible turn.

I think Mary is safe from Ketch, if only because I think even this writer's room would realize Sam and Dean avenging their fridged mother AGAIN is not a plot they want to rehash.

From: [identity profile] z-publicizes.livejournal.com
My mom had noncon sex with the devil and all she got was this stupid fetus. I think that reached peak dead baby humor.

How about the Code's application is completely arbitrary because the Old Men are just making this stuff up as it suits them? While twirling their mustaches, smoking their Cubans, and stroking a Persian in an affably menacing manner, probably.

Maybe they pit their best students against each other because they don't care that much about having competent agents. They care about having agents who will kill for them without questioning whether doing so makes a lick of sense.

Thinking a bit more about Mick's backstory...I've seen a couple of comments that it's jarring how Dickensian orphan it is, but that part actually felt fitting to me. Because the BMoL are not the modern day UK, they're a throwback to the British Empire, and so Mick having a backstory out of their heyday makes sense.
