Hee hee hee - 'the Lucifetus' is such a brilliant name! I've been calling him not-Jesus (Cas is so obviously in the Joseph here) but this is way better!

The thing I thought was very stupid was Dean giving the car keys to Cas, while him and Sam had a chat. But I guess it was necessary for the storyline - and as a bonus we got to see Dean fixing the truck!

I thought the mix tape was weird - why would Dean give this to Cas - does he have a walkman or a cassette player? And why would Cas give it back?

But otherwise I loved this episode and I'm intrigued about the Lucifetus - will he be good or evil? I'd love to see Cas bringing up the baby in the Bunker with Sam and Dean...

I assume Cas's old truck has a cassette player

I have no clue what will happen with Lucifetus, although I suspect my wish, that it simply disappear, isn't likely. I'm going to guess we don't find out this season and that the last sound of episode 23 is the first cry of the baby. We won't know if Kelly dies or anything about the baby until next season.

I don't think Sam and Dean know birthing the baby will kill Kelly. I think they talking about killing Kelly now to prevent the nephilim birth when they talk about finding a way to not kill Kelly or the baby.

Frankly, I'm not impressed with Kelly's decision that she can't get rid of what makes her child "special' since that carries a high chance of killing the entire world. Oh, heck, maybe someone will remember Jesse, the Antichrist, and give the kid to him. He knows all about fighting the "evil" forces inside him.

How about Asmodeus swoops in at the cliffhangery last second and absconds with the Lucinfant? We've had three living princes name dropped this season, and we're two down, so by dramatic rule of three he's gotta be their final boss.

Okay, admittedly I pretty much forgot Asmodeus until I saw this commentary--http://zpublicizes.tumblr.com/post/160157809085/mrs-dalloway-said-she-would-buy-the-flowers --on a visual in 12x17.

Downside is, I'd also guess in that case we'd get another TFW/Lucifer team-up where they search for the kid together. And I still wouldn't rule some kind of Lucifer redemption out.

Oh, I forgot about Asmodeus!! Yeah, you're right, he's going to sweep in and stir some shit. And no Colt to stop him.

I can't for the life of me understand why the BMOL vs. US hunters, Mary's resurrection trauma and the morality of killing monsters wasn't enough for this season.

Lucifer should have been killed last season. It would have been a great and dignified ending for his character; he makes up with his dad and then grudgingly joins up with the good guys and has a redemptive death.

Instead, they continued to completely butcher and ruin his character and create this offensive and stupid plotline. WHYYYY.

Lucifer should have been left in the cage altogether!

These polls are so satisfying. There wasn't anything I "loved" about this episode except for anything and everything to do with Sam. Rowr. You're right, that orange jacket makes him look like a mentally slow farmhand.

This is all going to roll into a big mess at the finale and the "cosmic consequences" we were promised however many episodes ago will happen. Or not.

I would SO like a season finale like S1, where they're near death but it's only because a demon crashed their car. Sweet and simple, something the show has forgotten how to be.

I feel like they don't think they can go back to simple things, that they have to get bigger and badder and more "cosmic," and that's unfortunate.

Yeah, I remember over last hiatus there was a general anticipation that Mary was returning and the BMoL were being introduced so that the show could roll back the cosmic drama and focus more on grey-area, interpersonal conflict. Well, they put the nail in that coffin pretty quick. Funny thing is, last season did feel more intimate to me, the stakes more grounded in the interpersonal, and Amara was a more complicated, ambiguous antagonist than the BMoL are shaping up to be.

That orange jacket! I don't HATE it yet, but the more I see it, the more I wish I didn't (and Sam has more than one jacket so he must have picked it out of his wardrobe, like, this orange jacket goes so well with my jeans I'll wear this today! Or maybe it's his backup jacket that he uses when the others are in the washer or covered in monster or something!)

At the moment, I feel that we'll end with Mary killing Ketch to save the boys, but then they'll all be put on Trial by the BMOL and unable to step the baby from being born, but Cas will be there as Kelly dies and he'll take the baby away and drive off into the sunset, and Lucifer will be mad. Very mad.

I'm torn between Dean killing Ketch because Ketch has been set up as Dean's dark mirror and characters usually kill their dark mirrors, or Mary kills Ketch because she's been set up as the one possible chink in his armor. Or maybe they do it together, and it's the mother/son bonding activity that finally spackles the cracks in their relationship.

Oh yes, it could certainly be Dean that kills Ketch. But I feel like Show has been leading to Mary making a sacrifice for her children, as a true sign of her love; they keep telling us she's a hunter and a mother, but for me, we're seeing more hunter Mary, than Mother Mary, and maybe this will be the final way to prove she can be both.

Saying that, I've been here before and have been wrong, so maybe he won't die at all, but he'll turn and kill all of BMOL!!!! ;)

You know, I could see that happening--if Ketch could be convinced that the BMoL's leadership have been compromised, he might decide it's his duty to take them out so as to serve the mission/organization itself. A 'loyalty to the state before the government' kind of thing. That'd be an interesting turn.

But is Ketch actually loyal to anyone?

Maybe not to people, but to the institution that gives him a sense of order and purpose? Like, obviously he's in it for the sheer sadistic pleasure, but I don't think we've seen enough of him to say if he's also a true believer in...something or other. In his scenes with Mary, he seems to have a lot of passion and pride when it comes to his work. But that could be more about the means than the ends--he's just really, really into murder.

Well, you've convinced me!!! Or maybe he really will kill Mary, they'll be a battle, but maybe he gets the upper hand, and she'll die trying to protect her family. And maybe then Dean will kill him, or he'll escape and go a bit mad and he'll be set up for next years big bad...so many possibilities!!!

At this point, I'm mostly sticking around for the pretty and because of a certain morbid curiosity: how much more of a mess can this tangle of plotlines become?
