Someone explain the vessel thing to me. How can Gabe have Loki's face?

Same way Anna was able to get a vessel that looked like her own human body, presumably. Hey, maybe the old favors she said she called in were from Gabriel. I think it fits with what we've seen of archangel powers that they could create a duplicate body--how that fits with the true-vessel-bloodline thing is where continuity really gets gnarly.

Things that I did not like about this episode: When Gabriel was yelling about being tortured for 7 years, I wanted verbal acknowledgment that Sam's torture in the Cage was worse!

'Dean was very dismissive about Gabriel's situation' - I think Dean was trying to play down Gabe's need for revenge because he doesn't want Sam to try to kill Lucifer. And Gabe was yelling at Dean about being tortured for 7 years, what a wuss! Dean was tortured for 30 years and Sam for a lot longer. I really didn't like Gabriel in this episode and I don't trust him at all.

My biggest frustration is that while the writers have remembered this season that Sam was tortured a lot and Should Not Be Over It, they seem to have entirely forgotten that Dean was also tortured a lot. Like, okay, Gabriel, I'm sure that Asmodeus was a kinky, evil sumbitch, but Alistair had Dean on the rack for 30 years, so put on your big boy pants, Gabe, and get over it. And I really wish Dean would have a chance to have that acknowledged.

And I get why Dean doesn't talk about it after Sam pretty much turned his words against him while he was hopped up on demon blood in S4, but still... if we're going to be in a who-was-tortured-most dick-measuring contest, Gabriel comes in a distant third after Dean's 30 years and Sam's possibly 180-or-more-depending-on-how-you-calculate-it years.
