On further review: 14.08

...and what about Naomi?

(Are you old enough that what about Naomi actually means something to you?)

So, I've been thinking about Naomi in 14.08...



She says she knows where Michael is. There are two possibilities here. She's telling the truth, or she's not.

Why would she not be telling the truth?

1. Because she's not really Naomi. Like I said in the episode poll, we saw her get black gooed. And we know of two other angels who were black gooed - one of them apparently died, and the other one turned out to be Empty Duma. Why should we assume Naomi survived the goo attack? There's every possibility she could have been Empty Naomi when she was there with Cas at the end.

B. Because she doesn't want Cas to destroy Michael. Naomi needs an archangel's grace to repopulate her angel crew. The only archangel around is Michael. And she didn't ask for Cas's help recruiting Michael; she's supposedly willing to help Cas kill him. Why wouldn't she at least try to convince or force Michael to help her? Well, maybe she plans to do just that. Maybe she wants to throw Cas off his trail (because maybe he's still hiding in Dean!) Maybe she's even working with Michael already.

I know I'm overthinking this. Or am I?

I do think that she's working with Michael and this is a trap. Otherwise all the weird stuff happening with Dean makes absolutely no sense. Which, granted, wouldn't be impossible with this show, but I'm hoping that's not the case.

Naomi also seemed too forgiving of Castiel's willigness to damn all those 46 billion souls in Heaven so he could save Jack. Her thanking him for inadvertently saving Heaven instead sounded OOC to me; she probably holds grudges, and has zero reason to be indulgent of Castiel.
