I'm the first to respond! But I'll just keep it brief - the five most moving words in SPN ever are 'I LOVE YOU FOR TRYING' *sobs*

And "Couldn't they figure out how to put Michael into Nick, and then dump those two losers in the Pacific?" THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN!

I may have had to rewind that and rewatch a few times!

I loved all the brother moments so much in this episode. It was pretty obvious (after last week's episode) that Dean was headed out on a farewell tour, especially when he gave Sam that amazing hug, but knowing that only made the rest of the episode more heartbreaking. I felt like Dean's meal with his mom was more for her sake than his. She's "damaged goods" too, even if she hasn't been to Hell or possessed by an archangel. Obviously everybody else on your list fits the bill, too :)

I try to imagine Dean in that box, deep in the ocean, but it never occurred to me until you said it that he might stay alive indefinitely. Aghh! I figured Dean would die, his soul would go to Heaven, and Michael would be trapped in his dead body forever. But this is worse!!!!!

Yeah, Mary should have been on that list too.

Why didn't Dean say goodbye to Cas?

Dean was planning on getting Cas to be the one who throws him in the ocean because he knows he can steamroll Cas into do what he wants. Therefore he was going to contact Cas last.

But he said he was going to pay someone “hush money” to do it. I thought that was probably a bribe not to tell Sam. Involving Cas would defeat the purpose.

IDK--I interpreted his 'hush money' comment more like the need to pay someone to take a boat out and dump something illegally in the ocean...I couldn't see Dean just leaving the actual sealing him inside to a stranger...

This was the most real tension I've felt watching SPN in a good long while. Davy Perez gets a kiss on the mouth from me. Honestly, I'm just so happy that this far in, our Show can still knock it directly out of the MFing park like it did with this ep.

It makes so much sense that Dean's stories (HAHA Sammy was shoplifting food and I was trying to cook it bc our dad and money were MIA lol) were horrifying to Mary. I find it hard to relate to her character but that scene was heartbreaking.

Not as heartbreaking as Sam and Dean at the end of the ep just loving each other so much. So very much. All the much. I had real live tears.

Here's my question...so, is this it for Nick? He's walked off into a squad car and we never see him again? I mean, I don't really care about Nick. But that's a pretty lame send-off for Pellegrino after being around for 10 seasons.

Oh, that “cute” story! Yeah, remember how me and my baby brother had to shoplift for food cause you were dead and Dad left us alone? Good times!

And I’m pretty sure we’re not lucky enough to be done with Nick. :-/

"Couldn't they figure out how to put Michael into Nick, and then dump those two losers in the Pacific? "

OMG PLEEEEEASE.

This has been done before, just saying. Not on SPN. Jack Harkness was buried alive for a very, very long time and spent it dying and coming back to life again. Then, when he's rescued he just walks away like, no biggie. I would hope very much that if Dean ends up in the ocean like this there is some kind of nod to just HOW FUCKED UP THIS WOULD BE and that, as tough and determining as our Boy is, he would have some issues afterwards.

But I really hope no one gets dumped this way. I'm just too soft hearted. Nick should just die and get it over with, poor fellow. But of course, then he'll likely go to Hell, get turned into a demon and blah blah blah.

Can I just add to this, what about Adam? And how about Bela??

Anyway. Loved these two last episodes for their lighting and the writing. And the acting. OMG, the acting... I was actually truly frightened in this last ep and I really, really didn't like that. "Real" horror (psycho killers) are not a thing I like and actively try to avoid. But of course, not stopping watching SPN any time soon. If ever.

Also, can I just say how much I love the love between Sam and Dean in this episode? Finally, some love! Whew.

It was like (for me), FINALLY.

Finally...

I have to add Mary to the Damaged Goods list. You don't live on whiskey, shooting pumpkins and doing crossword puzzles and not be damaged.

I am going to guess that Bobby makes the real grocery runs, because otherwise they should be so malnourished.

And hopefully Bobby does the cooking, too.

Our Bobby could make a mean stick-to-your-ribs chili so that checks out.

Why didn't Dean's farewell tour include Cas?

Cas is family. So is Jack. They both mean a great deal to Dean. Neither of them could be in this ep, so it's not about the character's value, it's about the limitations of the show.

Alternative season ending; Lucifer does get of the empty, and posses Sam, and Sam and Dean trap themselves in the box, together, along with Michael and Lucifer. You're welcome ;)

You didn't have the "things I hated about this episode". How about pretty much the whole thing? Somehow, Dean and/or Sam dying doesn't affect me any more, unless there's an announcement that this is the last season.

Yes! Put Michael in Nick! I like this plan. But I have the nasty suspicion that what stops Dean will be Lucifer busting out of the empty and Nickifer busting out of prison and Dean has to stick around so he can fight him (again).

I don't think Sam wants Dean's plan to succeed and he only agreed with it to buy himself time without Dean cutting him off completely, but I don't think if he fails to figure out an alternative that he'd lock Dean up to stop him from going through with it.

I'm about as far from 'Destiel is canon' as you can get and I don't think Dean would shuffle off into the Pacific without saying some sort of goodbye to Cas and Jack. There's still time for that next episode.

I don't think Dean's stay at the cabin was even as much about wanting a long goodbye with Mary as it was wanting a place to construct the box which wouldn't get Sam as suspicious as just taking off to nowhere would.

I did love "You were the only one who could talk me out of it" because we know it's true--we've seen Sam do it in "Point of No Return" and in "Brother's Keeper."
