Everyone's doing these awesome year in review posts, and I'm just. Ugh. Fail. :-) So instead, here are my fandom resolutions for 2016...

Continue to write a review of every episode, with purty screencaps. So far, so good.

Continue to post a poll after every episode, and a few extras just for fun. Again, so far, so good.

Write episode tags when I'm inspired. Last year, I wrote one for every episode, and it was hard to come up with an idea sometimes. Also, since I was sticking to what actually happened on the show, and not what I wanted to happen, they sometimes turned into that kind of fanfic that I don't even like - the kind that's just a character going over things in their head, but nothing new happens. So now, I'm only writing tags when I'm inspired to actually write something: unnamed drabble (11.01), unnamed drabble (11.02), Burning Out His Fuse Up Here Alone (11.02), We've Got Tonight (11.04), and Fall On Your Knees (Oh Hear The Angel Voices) (11.09).

Fill in at least two more squares on my Spnspiration Bingo Card. I've been working on this for a little over a year and I'll never fill all the squares, but maybe I'll get a Bingo someday.

Write a case fic. This one's pretty close to being done, and I can't decide if I want to save it for a Big Bang, or just post it on its own.

Summergen, maybe? I don't know. This one's pretty intimidating. I had fun writing to prompts in the Oh Sam Triple Play Challenge, but I got to choose the prompts myself. Being assigned a prompt is way different.

Put all of my writing on AO3. Well, not all of it. Some of it should just quietly go away. ;-)

Oh oh you should do summergen!!! Yes yes. The mods are really good at matching you with the right prompts

Thirding that you should do Summergen--it's not too stressful, and whoever got a fic from you would be very lucky (I'd encourage you to give Spring Fling a go, too).

As for your casefic, you should check out SPN Case Fic Minibang. It might a good place to post the story you've been working on.

You are too kind. That minibang looks really cool, but they want you to come up with a new monster, and mine isn't new. But at least I can stalk it looking for good stuff to read!

I would absolutely recommend you give summergen a go. I felt the same as you before I signed up, and therefore skipped it for a couple of years, but for the last few I've taken part and it's such a rewarding experience. The mods are very good at matching you to a set of prompts; there will be at least one that you can work with. I think the key is to fill out the sign up sheet as accurately as you can.

Have you considered trying spnspringfling? I think it could be a great way of giving you taste of what it's like to work with other peoples prompts, except for this challenge they're more open like "rainy day" or "a hunt gone wrong", so you have a broad scope to work with. It might give you the confidence to give summergen a go (it worked for me anyway!)

I'm sure looking forward to seeing this casefic! I've always wanted to try a big bang; I worked with an artist for the first time last year, and it was such a positive experience.

Seems like I considered springfling last year but chickened out? Or got busy? I don't remember. Maybe you're right, it would be a good place to get my toes wet.

I've done one big bang (though mine was a mini) and I really liked it. My artist did a lovely photomanip. And now I'd absolutely love someone to draw something original!

It's a pretty quick challenge (you have a short time to write a short fic of no more than 2500 words), so maybe you missed it last year, or were busy. I think it would give you an idea of what it's like to work with assigned prompts (even if they are more broad). Maybe keep an eye out for it, and see how you feel nearer the time. But feel free to pick my brain if you have any queries or anything.

In full agreement with everyone here--SUMMERGEN!!!! :DDDD The mods are indeed incredibly good at matching people up appropriately; and if you really cannot write for the prompts you're given, you can technically ask for a new set. So it will never be this scenario where you're stuck forever with something wholly unsuited to you. That doesn't happen often at all, though! <3

And I'm very much looking forward to the casefic you've got cooking. :) You have such a knack for creating and sustaining intrigue in your fics.

But the other problem with summergen is that there are people like you who are literally creating magical works of art and damn, that's intimidating.

(and thank you!!!)
