My best guess on the killings is that some of them (the father, the hangman) had sold their souls at some earlier date and the demon was using Gunnar to move up collection, the way that one demon did in Season 7 Time For a Wedding. Then there was Shawn who was killed because he said no and I have no idea if they got his soul or not. I mean if soul can be stolen that easily, why bother with deals? It's not like demons are squeamish about killing people?
I really hated that Gunnar's murdering people was so glossed over. Once he killed Shawn, "you were a guy who made a mistake" went out the door, for me. Yes, it's nice that that he decided to save Dean, but really? He's a serial killer, since we know there had been more murders before The Hangman.
I'm not convinced the Hands of God can only be used once. Two is not a large sample and way to small to prove anything other than SOME HOGs can be used only once. So I'm holding off on that for now.
I thought the soul stealing was being done without contracts - and that was why Gunnar had to carve up the bodies with those symbols. Otherwise why bother with that?
I wondered that too - unless the demon didn't hold his contract, and there's still a(nother) King of the Crossroads who hold all the contracts? Mind you, Lilith held Dean's contract for some reason that was never explained, because she wasn't anything to do with the Crossroads demons - was she?
So yeah, who is dealing with the suls atm? Also, the king of killed - does that free veryone from their contracts? Other than - independent contractors' people? And where do those even store them, then?
This was a fun poll...I mean, yours always are, but this one cracked me up more than usual, for some reason. :D
The only thing I cringed over in this episode was my second-hand embarrassment for Dean and his wrestling theatrics. But that's a 'me' thing, not anything the show did. I liked this one better upon second-viewing and yanno? It was cute! I loved the howling of the hellhounds at the end--felt like old-school SPN--and Gunnar being brave enough to face them. The aspirin toss, Sam's delicious gray coat, and can we have a HALLELUJAH! for his hair this season? I think we can.
I think Misha is still a little hammy in his depiction of Pellegrino's Lucifer, but he gets better every time, so I'm cool with it. I'm actually finding myself on Team Crowley, here, even though he's a nasty, nasty man. I'll never forgive him for Sarah and almost-Jody. But hello, demon.
Annnnywho, decent filler ep with touches of mytharc!
I'd have enjoyed Dean's cool way of rolling into the ring if they hadn't enjoyed it so much they showed it THREE TIMES, argh, which also made me cringe. I kind of liked the rest of his antics, though. And I've watched the Miz since his first days on the Real World, so I kind of think of him as a little brother, and I enjoyed seeing him get to try acting.
And actually, I loved Misha as Lucifer at first, and now I feel like the fun's gone out of it, but hey, I still get to look at Misha.

I am seriously freaking the fuck out over lack of news about season 12. I just have this bad feeling, not that they'd be cancelled for ratings, but that Jared wants to quit. I mean, he's doing commercials and investing in a local Austin bar. He's said in the past that he doesn't want to be working so much when his kids are in school. And this season is pretty much the biggest showdown they could have. I hope I'm wrong, because I am not ready to let go yet.
Also Creation is selling 2017 cons already, and not just for Hawaii. What if they're trying to sell as much as they can now, knowing that interest in cons will wane once the show is off the air?
I looked up when the upfronts will be and the CW goes like dead last, not until around the 3rd week of May.
I'm not worried about Jared wanting to quit. The CW hasn't renewed anything for next season, not even The Flash, which is about as certain a renewal as you can get. I think they are probably holding out until they know about the Tribune negotiations and/or the Netflix negotiations. If other shows had been renewed and not SPN, I'd be more worried. But I think this is a result of behind the scenes stuff at the CW, not SPN specific. Plus, I think if they knew that one or the other of the Js wasn't resigning they wold announce it.
This is exactly where I am. Why would he be doing commercials unless he wants piles of money because he's afraid he soon won't have an income or maybe soon will no longer be famous enough to get to do big-time commercials because he's no longer on a hit(ish) show? Because I'M NOT READY TO LET GO YET EITHER, especially now that the show is just getting good again.
I'm sure I saw one of JPs recent facebook live chats and someone asked him about season 12, and while he said he didn't know anything, he didn't seem concerned and sort of implied that if they weren't getting it they'd have to know soon because they're shooting later season eps now, and would need to start 'wrapping up' or something? *bites nails*
Does the fact that I hate entertainment wrestling (sorry if I offend any fans) render my opinions on this ep (other than the ones praising Sam's hair) invalid?
