In which a wish is granted

caranfindelAt this time last year, I was excited about my new Dean and Baby Funko Pop but mourning the lack of a Sam to accompany him. Imagine my surprise when the Hot Topical emailed me yesterday inviting me to buy Sam and Baby! How did I not know this was a thing? He's been available in the UK for over a week! How did I not know? Why is it not even on the Funko website?

The email said he was available in stores now, and that I should "check back here tonight" to buy him online. Well, the nearest store is an hour away, so I just kept checking and checking the website, with no luck. After a bit of googling I discovered that it was supposed to "drop" on the 27th, so I figured it wouldn't be available until midnight. No problem. Go to bed and order him in the morning like a normal human being, right?
Except I'm not a normal human being. And I'd found one website with a "placeholder" link that was apparently supposed to be a way to get online and order it really quickly once it was available. And why would you do that if you didn't expect it to sell out in minutes? If I remember right, Dean sold out (on the HT site) within 24 hours. I didn't expect Sam to be more popular than Dean, but I wouldn't be surprised if Funko simply made fewer Sams. So I set my alarm for midnight, and at 12:04 he was one step closer to being mine.
There are two different versions of Baby. One is the "chase" version, which you cannot order but might get at random. It's allegedly chrome (well, not real chrome, I'm sure) and on the HT website it looks like shiny silver, but in photos I've seen online it's just shiny black, so who knows. The other is like the one that came with Dean, except she's dirty. And I choose to believe the Funko designers sat around trying to figure out how to make this Baby different from the other one, and someone said "Look, if Sam has the car, that means Dean is either missing or dead. And that means Sam's either trying to rescue him, or mourning. And either way, he's not going to be taking care of the car. So let's make it dirty." Yep, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened.
Anyway. Assuming I get the dirty car, she'll go next to my regular hunter-garbed Team Free Will, and this new Sam will join Dean and original Baby, since I assume his size will match that Dean. The Fed-suited boys will still have to deal with their wee Impala.
I love that the guys look kind of annoyed/disappointed about their tiny car.
Also? The email I got from Hot Topic yesterday, saying check back tonight to order? Now it says I can order him. I don't like emails that change after they've arrived in my inbox. It's weird.
(But I don't care that much because they brought me Saaaaaaaaammmmmmmm!!!!!)
ETA: Ooooh, I forgot! While searching for Sam, I saw rumors that we're getting a Lucifer Funko Pop this year too. If it's Pellegrino, I'll pass. BUT WHAT IF IT'S SAMIFER IN A WHITE SUIT????? Looks like someone's setting her alarm for midnight again.
