In honor of Supernatural Day
Sep. 13th, 2018 12:31 pmSo apparently it's Supernatural Day again? Is this a thing? Is there some significance to 9/13 that I'm missing? Season 9 episode 13 is "The Purge," which has some good moments (yoga Sam, roofied Dean, more yoga Sam... mmmm... excuse me, I need a moment) but isn't exactly earthshattering. Is it a character's birthday? What's the deal with September 13?
ETA... Duh. It’s the day Supernatural first aired. Thanks to
kalliel.
Anyway. In honor of the occasion, my friends at the Hot Topical, who are well aware of what I love, emailed me about their new Supernatural fashion collection. Including this awesome skirt that looks like a plaid shirt tied around your waist.

They styled it with a Led Zeppelin t-shirt! Someone over there is watching the show.
Dear lord, I adore this. I'm not going to buy it. I'm a goddamn grownup, and it's okay for my office to be full of toys, but I'm not wearing a skirt that looks like a shirt tied around your waist. (IT HAS SLEEVES.) But somebody needs to.
In other news, apparently Eric Kripke wrote the screenplay for the new movie The House With a Clock in its Walls. And apparently it's based on his favorite book as a child, and apparently that book influenced the show (I mean Show) he created years later. And apparently this movie is full of Supernatural Easter eggs.
So now I guess I have to watch it. And if this is just a clever way to trick a million people into watching your movie, I’ll be VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Anyway. Stay safe out there!

A happy ending
Aug. 3rd, 2018 02:09 pmLast week I ordered my Sam and Baby Funko Pop. Delivery was scheduled for Thursday, August 2. I've checked the Hot Topic site a few times since then and he's sometimes listed as out of stock. Which makes me happy, because I want my boy to be popular.

In which a wish is granted
Jul. 27th, 2018 12:44 pmAt this time last year, I was excited about my new Dean and Baby Funko Pop but mourning the lack of a Sam to accompany him. Imagine my surprise when the Hot Topical emailed me yesterday inviting me to buy Sam and Baby! How did I not know this was a thing? He's been available in the UK for over a week! How did I not know? Why is it not even on the Funko website?

Look at his cute little worried face! Marvel at the texture of his hair! Behold the awful orange jacket!

I know not everyone is into Funko Pops, but I love them. I saw recently that Funko had a special limited-edition Pop, Dean with the Impala (and the leather jacket and the Samulet!), that was supposed to be a ComicCon exclusive. And I mourned the fact that I wouldn't be able to get it, and then went on with my life. Imagine my surprise when I woke up to an email from Hot Topic this morning, encouraging me to order the damn thing from them. Did I? Hell yes.

I also did a bit of a search and found a coupon that wasn't supposed to apply to this item, and was apparently supposed to be for new customers only, and yet it worked on my order. Obviously this was meant to be.
But this presents a problem. It's just Dean. There is no corresponding Sam. And I've already got regular Sam and Dean in their jeans and button shirts over T-shirts, and I've got FBI Sam and Dean in their black suits. But now I'll have this Dean without a Sam. And this bothers me, partly because I'm a Sam!Girl and partly because I'm OCD enough to require sets to remain complete but mostly because it means this Dean is missing his Sam. Is maybe wondering where he is. Is possibly very worried, or maybe even mourning him. Am I going to set this new Dean and Baby up in my office and then get sad every time I look at it because Sam is gone?
I know. First world problems.
But what do I do? Do I add a Sam? I could get a duplicate of Civilian Sam, or I could get a version I don't have, but I'm not particularly interested in the ones out there (blood-spattered, metallic, or blood-spattered metallic). Maybe I could get another Civilian Sam and paint his shirt plaid? Hmm. I like that idea. But Impala!Dean has eyebrows for some reason... would I have to add them to Sam?

I could take a black Sharpie to that red shirt and recreate the Red Plaid Shirt of Wonder. I absolutely could.
(Also, there are now two special editions of Dean without a corresponding Sam, because there's also a MoC Dean holding the First Blade. Come on, Funko. Can't you come up with another Sam? In a white suit, perhaps? That'd be awesome.)
And speaking of ComicCon, I know the Js were on Conan last night, but I haven't watched it yet (I have, of course, seen it all over Tumblr). Surely there weren't any spoilers, right?
