A happy ending

caranfindelLast week I ordered my Sam and Baby Funko Pop. Delivery was scheduled for Thursday, August 2. I've checked the Hot Topic site a few times since then and he's sometimes listed as out of stock. Which makes me happy, because I want my boy to be popular.
His little worried eyebrows are even better in person.
On Monday, I saw that Target was having a deal where if you bought $50 worth of "essentials," you got a $15 GC. And shipping was free, so I ordered a big pile of toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, laundry detergent, etc. (Trust me, this is relevant.)

Wednesday was a very long and tiring workday. A couple of hours after I got home, I got an email from Target saying my order had been delivered. I opened the front door and yep, there were two huge (maybe three feet across?) boxes. I recognized the bullseye packing tape and knew it was my Target "essentials," so I dragged them inside. I didn't open them because (1) tired and (b) not really that excited about opening giant boxes of toilet paper and paper towels.
Unlike the earlier Sam and Dean Pops, this Sam is taller than Dean, and his hair is darker. I love accuracy.
Thursday I got home, hoping to find Sam and Baby at my door. They were not there. I figured they'd show up later, but I checked the tracking anyway to see if delivery had been rescheduled. And it said they were delivered Wednesday. Left at the front door, it said. Oh crap, I said.
The dirt on the Impala is more subtle than it looked online. In fact, I couldn't see it when I first unearthed the box, and thought I'd ended up with the "chrome" chase version.
We don't have a theft problem with packages, but they do get left at the wrong house. I knew my next-door neighbors were on vacation, so I ran to see if he'd been left there. Nope.
The Husband said "he looks scared."
I went to the UPS website to look for a "my package wasn't delivered" phone number, and good lord, just TRY contacting a real life human being using the UPS website. Just freaking TRY. You will fail. I did find that the expected procedure was that I'd contact the shipper, and the shipper would start the "investigation." And I did not have any faith at all in that type of investigation, so I decided I better just order another one, to make sure I do end up with a Sam and Baby in my life, and then work on finding the missing package.

Of course, you probably guessed that he was out of stock. More panic. The nearest Hot Topic is an hour away, but I was trying to decide if I should take off work Friday, or just drive over there immediately.
He's even cute on the box, guys.
I went outside again to look behind the bushes, even though I had just watered the flowers and I knew there was nothing behind those damn bushes, and I went back inside, disconsolate. And then I looked at those two huge boxes still sitting by the front door and said wait. The one on the bottom doesn't have the bullseye packing tape.
So it turned out Sam was with me all along.
And my lonely Dean finally has his Sam.
I love happy endings. In real life, anyway. ;)
