Yay, looks like I'm first to complete this! And as usual it's great, you always notice things I've missed and/or have a diffferent take on them. I really loved this episode, both as a fun MOTW episode and because it had some lovely brother moments - I loved the scene in Dean's bedroom for many reasons!!

There were many things to love about that scene, weren't there?

> Explain Dean's surprised reaction to Sam being beardless, even though Sam is already scruffy

Jared wanted to keep his scruff in defiance of what the script demanded.

I also think Dean was surprised (and secretly disappointed) because he wasn't truly expecting Sam to shave just because Dean ribbed him.

> Sam still never mentions his own experience as an angel's/archangel's vessel

because his stoic silence emphasizes his strength and stoic heroism

> How do we feel about the potential Thelma and Louise ending for the series?

I'm troubled by the implication that it's going to happen next year :S

> Why did Dean's outfit continue to get dorkier through the episode, with the glasses and jacket showing up later?

For no logical reason other than they thought it would be funny.

> Why wouldn't they say the word bitch?

For no logical reason other than they thought it would be funny.

>Why did they think they had to remind us of the purpose of salt circles?

Suits.

> How would horror movie fans not know to avoid the hospital morgue?

For no logical reason other than they thought it would be funny.

Why would Dean even ask why Sam hates Halloween, instead of assuming it was for the obvious reasons?

For no logical reason other than they thought it would be funny. And to tease us with the idea that we're going to get a Thelma and Louse ending next year. Also, possibly, suits.

Why can't we have a MOTW episode every week?

Blame the X Files. They started this season arc crap.

> Will Sam EVER point out that he has some experience with this trauma Dean's dealing with right now?

I'm hoping they're saving it up for some BIG conversation once Michael is truly defeated. (My optimism knows no bounds!)

"For no logical reason" is a good response to a lot of questions, isn't it?

Hehe, these always tickle me pink (I must admit to missing the few of these because I've been watching late on in the week and was struggling to catch up - how annoying is RL?!)

How smooth is a Dolphin's belly? Maybe it's a little sctatchy? (Also this must mean that Dean knows what one feels like; insert cute story about Sam and Dean swimming with Dolphins here!)

Great question about the dolphin's belly... pretty smooth I'm guessing, because they're mammals, but funnily enough I read somewhere (was it Hawaii-5-0 fanfic?) that sharks actually have not only a rather rough hide, they (some of them?) have denticles, like skincells that are shaped like teeth. For streaming purposes? I'm not sure of anything anymore but I ust have to obnoxiously infodump...

Yes, I think I've heard that about sharks, but I have no idea about dolphins. They sure look a lot smoother than Sam's stubble!!! :)

Oh and I think I might quite like a Thelma and Louise style ending (although I'm pretty sure Dean was referring to the start of the movie where they take off together in the car - but the ending is still where you mind goes! Hmmmm, the bigger question is, which one of them is Thelma and which is Louise? Maybe Dean is Louise - didn't she doe most of the driving?)

Well, at one point Dean told Sam he was a redheaded woman... did Geena Davis play Thelma or Louise? She’s Sam (younger, taller, prettier hair), and Susan Sarandon is obviously Dean (older, ringleader, driver).

From a Watsonian character perspective, I think it makes sense that neither Sam nor Dean would want to bring up Sam's possession history. From the writerly perspective, the show should be addressing that elephant somehow and there are plenty of plot devices/anvils that could be used to force that conversation.

I think, the way Sam tries to draw Dean out about his various traumas, that it makes more sense in a Watsonian way for him to bring it up. But I guess I can also see why he'd want to avoid that particular minefield.

That horrible Halloween story was so humiliating! I can't believe Sam even told it unless it was for the express purpose of getting Dean to leave him alone about why he hated Halloween so much, since they've already addressed this ad nauseum and it's pretty damned obvious, isn't it, Dean? Duh? I saw a gif on tumblr suggesting that if that story is true, then Sam must've told Jessica ("You know how I hate Halloween"). Ugh!

Mini-Dean and Benny! Heh!

But who s Stewart supposed to be? A combination of Sam and Dean? A combination of Cas and Jack?

Those security guards were hilarious.

[livejournal.com profile] marciaelena has a very interesting theory that Dirk is Good Dean and Stewart is Dark Dean.

OK, where to start. First of all, I've missed you! I've been neglecting my fanly duties because I'm going through a massive knitting phase.

Halloween: Dean shouldn't be asking. It was an obvious set up for the stupid story. And if Sam really wanted to express his distaste for Halloween, he could have brought up either (a) almost getting killed by Samhain, (b) it reminds him of the last time he saw Jessica, or (c) he'd rather not see scary things on his night off. Or (d), all of the above. I'm not in love with this trope of Sam as being an awkward teen afraid of girls.

The beard: Sam should have been clean-shaven for Dean's line to work. And I love Sam's beautiful baby face! Sidenote: Alex Calvert has posted some hot instas of himself with scruff, and I just keep thinking, "but Jack's not old enough to grow a beard!"

I have to rewatch the episode. I missed the cat videos! And I saw Dean switch the mugs but I guess I hadn't looked at the mugs, because I didn't know why.

You chose knitting over us? D:

And yes, scruffy Alex is WAY TOO HOT. So he's obviously a Winchester.

I omitted to tick Red Hood! Doh. Apart from that - my main quibbles with this episode lie with two things. First was the timing of that movie trailer - I found it really jarring and it threw me right out of the story. By that stage we'd already seen loads of the movie so it didn't tell us anything new, interrupted the action and I couldn't see the point of it, however amusing and fun it was.
Second was how stupid they made Sam and Dean - suddenly Sam was incompetent at dealing with wounds and forgot how to triage. Neither of them seemed to know what to do around ghosts - no salt guns, people? No iron? I know there's a certain amount of plot-stupid you need sometimes to create the hazardous situations but come on.

Thankfully the rest of the episode was a lot of fun so I'm putting the quibbles in the dislike pile and wallowing around in the delights of the rest.
